Attack the Block‘s long-awaited sequel may finally see release next year. Andy Muschietti is heading to space for his next movie. Plus, get a new look at the live-action Lilo & Stitch‘s alien besties Jumbaa and Pleakley. Spoilers now!
Drift
Deadline reports Andy Muschietti is attached to direct Drift, a “grounded science fiction” film described as “Gravity meets Arrival.” Based on an unpublished short story by Ben Queen (Cars 2, The Addams Family 2) and Jason Shuman (Acapulco), the story concerns “a once-legendary, now fallen from grace shuttle commander” who “is pulled into a high-stakes hostage exchange in space to get his boy back from captors who are not from Earth.”
Dead Howling
Deadline also report Ryan Kwanten, Temuera Morrison and Tom Burlinson will star in Dead Howling, a post-apocalyptic werewolves vs zombies movie from director John V. Soto filming in Australia this summer. The story concerns Carter, “a lone werewolf fighting for survival in a world overrun by zombies, [who] takes vengeance for his murdered family by spending his days hunting down the living dead for sport. He finds new purpose after saving the lives of two humans seeking a rumored sanctuary for survivors. Despite Carter now joining them on their journey as a powerful ally, the group faces new and unimaginable danger when they discover that their undead enemy is beginning to evolve.”
Attack the Block 2
John Boyega provided an update on Attack the Block 2 during his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via Comic Book).
I’ve read it, man. It’s cool, bro. It’s cool. Yeah, I’ve read it. Joe Cornish has done a phenomenal job on his draft. And we’re just cooking it to make it right for everyone. And we obviously need more money for those aliens. We want it to look really good for that 2026 crowd. But for us, it’s just about developing the story, and making sure Moses and the rest of the characters that we have left are fully hashed out before bringing it out and going to shoot. But I’m very passionate and very willing that we will shoot Attack the Block 2. It will happen. You’re going to have to see, but the story is crazy. I’ve got to get in the gym, Jesus.

Carrie
In conversation with Comic Book, Matthew Lillard stated Mike Flanagan’s Carrie TV series “has found a way to make [the story] relevant right now” and “speaks to what we’re all experiencing.”
The exciting thing for me here is that he crafted an idea based around what we’re experiencing right now in the world, and shared that with Stephen King, and then Stephen King was like, ‘Oh, that’s a great idea.’ So, it’s Stephen King’s first published book, it has gone through all these iterations. I think the exciting thing here is that Mike has found a way to make it relevant right now, and I think that it speaks to what we’re all experiencing, and so I think that that’s going to make a difference.
Doctor Who
Finally, the Doctor and Belinda crash the Interstellar Song Contest in a trailer for this week’s episode of Doctor Who.
